Operation

A network of valves known as a Christmas tree is installed at the top of the well to regulate the flow of oil and natural gas. Surface production facilities also include separators, gas meters, storage tanks, pumping units, flow lines, valves, gauges, electricity, roads, timers, and fencing.

A well tender maintains and manages the well site. The cost of operating the well is known as lifting and operating expenses (L.O.E.). A purchaser's pipeline takes natural gas from the well.

The gas is metered and translated into MCF's (thousand cubic feet). Oil is placed in storage tanks and transported by tank trucks. D & L Energy processes sales and lease data and calculates payments to investors.
